Tony Bowles
Managing Director

Tony has over 25 years’ experience within the industry and having joined GSE Group in 2000, Tony has witnessed the rise of the business to become one of the South East’s leading family-owned civil engineering companies. Tony has been pivotal on the journey to getting GSE on the correct route to confirming its position as one of the principle groundworks and civil engineering business in Kent. Having joined as a groundworker, Tony quickly progressed to site foreman and manager, before heading up the project management and then the contracts team.

Today, he leads a strong team of over 100 employees with more than 95% of them being permanently employed by GSE Building & Civil Engineering Ltd. Tony says “Our staff are an integral part of the business from site staff right the way through to our office staff.  We trust in their abilities, skillsets and in their commitment to the task at hand and this is what makes each and every member of our team fundamental in all we do”

Our philosophy is to focus on the client and their needs so to make working with GSE a simple and friendly experience, and the end result will be repeat business and a healthy pipeline of work.

Josh Healey
Group Director

Josh has more than 10 years’ experience in the Construction Industry since graduating from Greenwich University.

Having lived and worked around South East Kent for most of his life, Josh’s local knowledge is invaluable to clients and GSE Group alike.

He enjoys welcoming new clients and working with existing ones to progress projects and is excited at the major projects GSE Group has in the pipeline.

Brendan Minter
Plant Director

Since joining GSE Plant Ltd in 2000, Brendan has risen through the ranks from Hire Controller to Plant Director, and today is responsible for the work of a 25-strong Plant Hire team. He has also successfully achieved his Certificate of Professional Competence for Transport Managers (Road Haulage) allowing us to keep everything in-house which will increase efficiency and productivity.

Born and bred in Canterbury, Brendan’s philosophy of focusing on the customer’s experience in terms of service and machine quality, has seen the division grow from strength to strength.

James Tutt
Health & Safety Manager

James has over 25 years HSE experience in Petrochemicals, Refineries, Power Plants, Commercial and Industrial projects, Oil and Gas, and Open-cast Mining.

James Tutt

For over 15 of the last 25 years, James has been working on International Mega Projects in Madagascar, Mozambique, Iraq, UAE, and Oman. He is also NEBOSH IGC certified and an ISO 9001 Lead Auditor.

Lee Crumbie
Finance Manager

Lee has a wealth of experience and has spent 12 years working in Practice. He first qualified AAT, before going on to qualify as a Chartered Accountant in 2014.

Lee Crumbie

Lee then became an Audit Manager at MHA MacIntyre Hudson, with a varied portfolio of clients before taking the move to become a Finance Accountant at the Port of Dover with ranging responsibilities, quarterly consolidated management accounts, an asset portfolio of over £300m and internal projects.

He is looking forward to progressing his career and knowledge with GSE.

Jodie Knell
Plant Manager

Jodie has over 23 years’ experience in the Plant Hire and Construction industry and so brings a wealth of knowledge to our team. After starting with us in 2007 as Hire Controller, she progressed to become our Plant Manager, managing a plant fleet of over 120 items of large machinery including a 30T excavator and 25T dumptruck as well as a team of 25+ people consisting of CPCS accredited machine operators, plant engineers, yard staff and lorry drivers.

Jodie Knell

Having lived and worked most of her life in Ashford and the South East, her knowledge of the local and surrounding area is invaluable to ensuring that our customer delivery requirements are met.

Jodie has a proven record of building excellent customer relationships to ensure that their requirements are met, with dedication and efficiency.

Lauren Mackay
Head of Marketing & Business Development

Lauren has 10 years' Marketing experience and has worked within a variety of sectors, including not-for-profit, before joining us here at GSE.

Lauren Mackay

Having successfully completed the CIM Diploma in Professional Marketing Lauren has applied her knowledge and experience to her role to drive GSE through a rebrand and position us as a market leader within our field.

Lauren is looking forward to developing our relationship with our charity partners, Mind and Demelza, and local community as well as continuing to pioneer to take GSE from strength to strength.

Brendan and Jodie are supported by Nicola Gardner (Office Administrator) who is another long serving GSE employee. Nicola has a wealth of plant knowledge which ensures customer expectations are met.
